21/9/08: Travel ? London Day 4

From More about Life, 6 month ago, Read 1 times. Similar articles

On checking out of our plush hotel, we couldn't help notice a big advertising board extolling "A Great deal for a great room." And we thought, yes it was a great room... and it was expensive. We assume they meant "a great deal" as in a deal that was great, but advertisers should beware of phrases that have two meanings. We popped over to Baker Street, famous for being the home of musician turned detective Gerry Rafferty and his sidekick, Doctor Egan, who both lived together in Shylock Homes, an... Last night,  I happened to turn the remote control to the Comedy Central Channel. It was a bald guy who was on and I thought he was brilliant with his stand up comedy. Well, most of his jokes were family related. Later on the show, he mentioned that he is a Filipino. He didn't really look and sounded like one but I was convinced when he started to make fun of his mom. You know, the P and F thing...typical Filipino jokes.  I got curious so I searched for more information about him and... Read more

Parliament is no place for babies

From Onemanbandwidth, 6 month ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

West Australian Labor politician Rita Saffioti and her supporters argue that she should be allowed to take her new-born baby with her onto the floor of Parliament because it is, after all, 2010 and not the dark ages: Ms Saffioti says she can keep tabs on parliamentary debate by watching it on TV in her office... JG put up a reading challenge that she is going to do.  It is called the 50 book challenge. Stunningly you have to read 50 books in a year.  Should be do-able!  I'm in.One thing I have been discovering about having the podcasts is the odd things that it does to your head.  I find that I am not able to listen to it and hear another conversation.  It is the relentless nature of the podcast. Naturally, it refuses to respond to any distractions I may be enduring and... Read more

Last weekend, we visited the Nan Tien Temple, about an hour and a half south of us in Wollongong. This temple is the largest Buddhist temple in the Southern Hemisphere and worth the drive down the Princes Highway. Despite it being a sticky hot day and probably better suited to a trip to the beach, it was a good day. Here are some pics:Exercising baby Buddhas:The three of us, exercising with the Buddhas (and my mom hiding behind a tree):The pagoda and the main temple:More statues, this time of... Read more

Cafe De Paris St Tropez

From St Maxime Living, 6 month ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

The Cafe de Paris is situated in the centre of the port in St Tropez and is just below the balcony of the Sube hotel. In summer its terrace, which is situated just infront of where the biggest boats moor, is a ideal place to see all the glitz of St Tropez. When friends asked us to dine there with them last night I groaned as the last time I went thereI thought it was overpriced and anyway St Tropez in February is dead especially at night.I was stunned to find the place buzzing with both young... I Went to Caracalla Friday Night.

Yes. So I went to Caracalla Friday night. The prime-minister knew I was going, so he showed up too (ahum). He thought ?if she's going, I've got to see this too.? Well, what can I say about Caracalla' Given that I was invited, I should speak only good.I was with two people new to the Middle East, and they most certainly had never even heard of the founder of the UAE, sheik Zayed (if you wonder what on Earth I am talking about now, you sort of understand how we felt last night). For a while we... Read more

To Answer Your Question

From Style Shanghai, 6 month ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

I got a question recently about where to find other Filipinos in Shanghai. Actually, I don't know ALL of them. I only knew the ones I've met at work and a couple of others I've spoken to elsewhere. Also I don't think there's any particular place to find us, I mean, it depends where we work right. So the best place to find them is at Luneta Restaurant in Shanghai. Simply Google and you'd find the Read more
