We've been blessed to have the male, red footed honeycreeper making appearances around the yard this week. His less colorful wife frequents the yard but he stays out of sight. I'm guessing his brilliant colors make him more of a target for predators. Not the best shot but it gives... Read more

The turmeric, curcuma in our yard is coming into bloom. Always near Easter time. Our first years in Costa Rica we only knew this odd plant as the resurrection plant.
