From Dean Collins, 5 month ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

I noticed this morning in www.ShellyPalmerMedia.comCablevision is finally slated to roll out Remote Storage DVR service. The cable provider will make the set-top-box free DVR available in April, with plans to make it available to all customers by the end of 2010. The move comes after years of regulatory scrutiny and means less entertainment center clutter for consumers.Very cool to see this finally being launched, i'm surprised that no one else has rushed to roll something similar for other... Book Review: The Ridiculous Race: 26,000 miles, 2 guys, 1 globe, no airplanes, by Steve Hely and Vali Chandrasekaran

From Abandon the Cube Travel Journal, 5 month ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

Book Cover Steve and Vali made a deal with each other. The first one to circumnavigate the globe by land would win a bottle of the most expensive scotch they could find in California. So, they purchased a bottle of scotch, poured two glasses and set them dramatically on the dining room table. Then they said their goodbyes (an event that left one in handcuffs and other excessively grumpy) and took off on a no-airplanes circling of the globe. While the premise sounds amazing, and the concept of... Read more

Scoop

From DavidLebovitz.com, 5 month ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

For the first five years in Paris, I wouldn't go to Scoop. I'd walk by, scan the selections of hamburgers and "les wraps", and keep going. Even though I was intrigued with the list of house-made ice creams, I'd always reason to myself, "I didn't move to Paris to eat a hamburger." I was reading recently about a site called My American Market that carries American foods, mostly targeted at expats living in France. There's some hard-to-find baking products, like unsweetened chocolate and... Read more

Recently I had the chance to explore Pottery Town, a small neighbourhood in Bangalore, made up of only a few streets, where potters work and live. Two dozen families live here, where this traditional trade is passed on from one generation to the next. There is always a high demand for pottery ? especially during the festival season. The potters make traditional clay lamps, water pots, cups, Read more

Two weeks ago, I talked about that Summer of '85 in Necochea, and I mentioned that we used to go to the beach every day, and get together in the late afternoon to play volleyball. Many of us (like myself) wouldn't even show up until around 5 PM (I have always hated to go to the beach just to sunbathe, I go to the beach either to swim, play soccer or play volleyball).Once we could finally reach the necessary number of six players, we would go to the little beach volleyball field we had, which...
