Spring.Technically not until March 20, 1:32pm does the March equinox occur but with the abundant sunshine we're experiencing in Boston there's proof that it's dropping by for a while.I've spotted these snowbells, snowdrops, Galanthus nivalis aplenty on my daily runs -small, little harbingers that they are.(from flickr)(from flickr)(from flickr)(from flickr)(from flickr) Read more

Yo Dawg! Wassup'!

From Blog Ness Monster, 4 month ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

So I just rounded out an afternoon full of drama by shutting S's hand in the car door. Luckily I had the common sense to plunge his fingers directly into a snow drift. (Although I can't exactly pat myself on the back, because if I'd been paying attention this wouldn't have been necessary in the first place!)It turns out we had luck in our bad luck, as the Germans like to say. The door didn't close all the way and caught him square across the middle of his fingers and missed his joints and... Read more

When No Means Yes

From Adventures in the Czech Republic, 4 month ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

As you will know if you read this blog regularly my New Year's resolution this year was to spend 30 minutes a day teaching myself Czech (when I am in England). Well I thought I'd better give you an update, so here it is.I don't know how it is going - I have no idea whether it is going in. I find 30 minutes all in one go too hard, I am not able to concentrate or I get bored and go too fast - a sign of my advancing years perhaps. So I keep copies of my Czech lessons in both bathrooms and I read... Read more

No Thanks | No Donations

From ExPad.ie, 4 month ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

Thank you is so simple, yet so important. This post from a blog about fundraising for nonprofits illustrates the negative power of failing to thank donors. And it jogged my memory, as did some fairly robust pleas for cash from the RNLI at a dinner on Saturday night. I’ll be honest – and this isn’t a popular stance if you’re a sailor – I’ll find it hard to donate to the RNLI again. In 2003 I ran the Dublin marathon for three charities – the MS Society,... Zamzam wedding cakes in Marrakech

From The Good Life in Morocco, 4 month ago, Read 1 times. Similar articles

Well I have started making wedding cakes for people getting married in Marrakech or Morocco. Making wedding cakes is exhausting in Marrakech because firstly you cannot get the cake tins so you have to go and have them made in the Medina and secondly the icing sugar is more like sand, so when you smooth it on you see grains. I don't understand this and it is driving me mad having to bring icing sugar back from the UK?? Why is Moroccan icing sugar not fine are the production machines old... Read more

Orsay Week Part 1

From i prefer paris, 4 month ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

I went to the 'Orsay in January and hadn't been in a while. After seeing the Art Nouveau exhibit, my "eye" caught a trove of architectural details inside and outside the museum that I never noticed before. I snapped so many photos that I thought it was worthy of a week series. Today it's the granite floors in the plaza outside the museum with bold angular inlays of marble. I consider these works of art that could be inside the museum. The Orsay Museum, a former Beaux-Arts railroad station... Read more
