Skate Park on the Lagoa

From Daily Rio Life, 3 days ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

Have I mentioned this to you before' Since moving to Rio over 2 years ago, I have noticed that skateboarding is becoming more and more popular there. There's also a different type of skateboard that's popular there, it's a bit longer and almost flexible compared to the traditional board. Anyway if you are looking for a place to practice your ollie, the lagoa has a park. Read more

Unbelievable...

From Daily Rio Life, 5 days ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

If you are a longtime loyal blog reader you will remember that about a year ago we had major problems getting a Brazilian passport for the Canadoca. Basically everything that could go wrong did and it took about 5 months. This is not a typical situation, but I'm proof that it can happen. Just FYI the procedure is much easier once an RNE is issued. During this time, some sort of policy changed with the federal police, and I was able to travel with her last summer to Canada on just a Canadian... Read more

Traveling Toddlers

From Daily Rio Life, 6 days ago, Read 1 times. Similar articles

I've read many articles on how to best travel with babies and toddlers and am starting to think I should compile a book! The Canadoca continues to be a treat to travel with (for now!), I think she really enjoys the one-on-one time she gets with me when traveling and the attention from other travelers. I'm willing to bet it's not the plane food she's so excited about. So, though I'm no expert, I do now have 4 trips to Canada from Brazil with a baby or toddler under my belt, 3... Read more

In case you are wondering...

From Daily Rio Life, 1 weeks ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

The Canadoca and I are currently away in North America (spending time in both Canada & the US). This is the worst I have ever neglected this blog in the 2 + years I've been keeping it. Even when the Canadoca was born there weren't many days without posts! Time for a break I guess. But don't worry, I'll be back. In the meantime I will post some random blackberry shots of moments and scenes in Rio I thought worth capturing and sharing.... Read more

Free Gym with a View!

From Daily Rio Life, 2 weeks ago, Read 1 times. Similar articles

We just went through the painful-on-the-pocketbook renewal of our fees for our gym/club this past month. As I was running on the beach the other day (and -cough- NOT on the treadmill at the club... which I never do by the way, only run on the lagoa or at the beach. Which begs the question as to why we belong but really it is mostly to take the Canadoca to the pool! Ok, it is also really nice to have the option of working out indoors when it is pouring buckets or steaming hot.) when it occurred... Read more

Seems obvious but...

From Daily Rio Life, 3 weeks ago, Read 1 times. Similar articles

like most things here, it's not. I want to get the Canadoca stamp and coin sets for Brazil for 2009. Have I mentioned how much I love the stamps here' I wait at the counter to put the pretty stamps on the mail I send back home (that takes about 6 weeks to get there. No joke.) and am known to the guys behind the counter to do so. Now, I would have thought that I could just buy a stamp set and even maybe a coin set at the post office (in Canada that would be where you would) but the only... Read more

The Playground at Jardim Botanico

From Daily Rio Life, 4 weeks ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

Though I had been to the Jardim Botanico on a number of occasions and had even taken the Canadoca there plenty, my first time at the playground there was just a couple of weeks ago. I'll be back soon! What a gorgeous park - and they have PROPER BABY SWINGS, people!!! Not something that you come across often in Rio. As a funny little aside that struck me as typical - when I entered the park that particular day, a fellow approached me and asked if I would like to have a guided tour as he knew... Read more
