Bangkok Thai: Restaurant Thailandais

From Singaporean in Algiers, 2 year ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

I kid you not, this was on the menu of Bangkok Thai, the Thai restaurant in Draria, Algiers which I frequent. I think the restaurant is making a huge mistake on it's menu.....like erm...Satay is not Thai food'Having said that, Bangkok Thai is one of my favourite restaurant in Algiers. It is the only restaurant I know that serves decent Thai food. No surprise here since the entire kitchen crew hails from Thailand.Catering to local palette, the taste was scaled down so the food is not as spicy as... Read more

Inline skaters mob Paris streets

From 40 Days in Paris, 2 year ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

A pack of in-line skaters take over the streets of Paris every Friday at 10 p.m. If you'd like to join this gang of rolling Parisians, come to the area beneath the Montparnasse tower at 9:30 p.m.For three hours you can tour the city while vigorously "getting your skate on." The route covers thirty kilometers and you'll meet people from all of Paris - and beyond. This group of thrill-seekers is always up for a good time, but if the streets are wet or if it's raining the week's ride will not... Read more

From 40 Days in Paris, 4 year ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

"Madness can descend in just one second, an aberration from nowhere. So it was in the 110th minute of the World Cup final as Zidane, the greatest player of his generation and in his last game for France, decided to head butt Marco Materazzi in the chest...Zidane's evening rapidly went from the threshold of glory to a slow ignominious trudge from the field." -- International Herald Tribune"J'espère que ce qu'on a fait jusqu'à la finale va nous servir de base pour les qualifications à... Stalking famous works of art

From 40 Days in Paris, 4 year ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

Some people insist on having their photo taken in front of "famous" art. It's odd. I've seen this most often at Musee d'Orsay. Wherever it occurs, Impressionism is involved. They must recognize the art from mousepads or coffee mugs and insist on a photo. Do they remember reports of paintings sold for millions at auction or art that was hauled away by crafty thieves? If they recognize a painting, they call it "famous." But, not everyone poses in front of paintings. There are also serious... Read more

Airfare Sale to Europe

From 50% of my DNA, 11 month ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

British Airways is having a sale. For some weird reason, it seems you have to fly through Chicago but for my relatives, that wouldn't a problem (hint, hint). The travel is valid from October 22, 2009 through March 28, 2010These aren't the cheapest tickets I have ever seen but they are definitely on the low side. These tickets seem around $200 per leg. We have flown British Airways a couple of times and had a pretty nice flight. Read more

The Idiot Tax

From 50% of my DNA, 1 year ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

The Scientist and I sometimes joke about something we call "The Idiot Tax." We have paid the idiot tax more times than I can count here in Germany and maybe by writing this post, I can help poor unfortunate expats like yourself (or those planning on being expats) avoid this. The idiot tax happens when you pay extra for something that you don't need to pay extra for. Of course this can happen in your own country but but I can assure you that is was less often. Since I don't have the luck to have... Read more
