Combatting Summer Fatigue article in The Japan Times

From I was really just very hungry, Today, Read 0 times. Similar articles

Just a heads up to those of you who are wondering when the heck I am going to post a new recipe already around here. There is a new, summery recipe by me on The Japan Times online version today! The Japan Times is the largest English-language daily paper in Japan, and I’m happy to say that I will be writing for them occasionally about - what else' - Japanese food and cooking. The theme of this one is using food to combat natsubate, the Japanese term for “summer fatigue” or... Read more

EMPLOYING STAFF

From Delhi Bound, Today, Read 0 times. Similar articles

Before anyone gets their panties in a wad over this expat from the United States writing yet another gripe post about living in Delhi, India and having the hellacious requirement of employing a staff ... ... let me tell you now that it may be a L-O-N-G and rambling post, it's not a whine (or a whinge) post. I'll save any complaining or frustrations that I have for my Husb ... who comes home after a long day of working with and managing 500+ employees (to listen to my issues of having a... Read more

Of temptation and capitulation

Suffer the fig eaters to come unto me...I find it unlikely that Eve, if she had existed, would have risked so much for the sake of an apple. Especially since it probably tasted a lot like the crabapples we know today. And while the fig and the apple share the distinction of being domesticated very early, the fig seems to be winning, at around 11,400 years ago.No. I think it would have been a fig. I would behave foolishly for the promise of a plump, perfect, ripe, soft-skinned fig.Or perhaps it... Read more

Thanh Chuong's Work

From ahoy hanoi, Today, Read 0 times. Similar articles

Despite thinking Thanh Chuong is an asshole, I can't deny that he is an amazingly talented artist. His paintings are all interesting to say the least. One thing I do take issue with though is that the pamphlet for the palace says, "All subjects are fair game, and he effortlessly renders them in his personal artistic 'language' that is unmistakably Thanh Chuong." My issue comes with this: All of us immediately said, "His work looks like Picassos," as soon as we saw a couple of paintings. And... Read more
