For those of you who know me, you know my affinity for the Food network, more specifically Everyday Italian's Giada De Laurentiis. Much to my dismay, New Zealand doesn't follow American celebrity chefs very much. Their favorites are Jamie Oliver and Nigella Lawson; but after 12 long months they finally realized what this country is missing...Giada is on every Wednesday night and for 30 minutes I feel like I am home again :) Read more

Anniversary Weekend Part 2

If you couldn't tell, we just can't get enough of the beaches here. Midwesterners at heart, the idea that the beach is just around the corner (literally) is a novel one; after almost a year, the novelty has not dissipated. Therefore, it was a natural choice for our relaxed anniversary celebration, to spend most of our day enjoying some of our favorite beaches near Auckland. First up, St. Heliers Bay for breakfast and a walk along the shore to enjoy the lively scenery. There are always a stream... Read more

On our whirlwind trip to the UK, we ended up in Edinburgh and visited our Scientist Family Doppelgangers in Scotland. They took us to a wonderful gem called The Scottish Seabird Centre. (more on this later) As we were walking by, we saw this dog topiary that the kids really enjoyed. Baby Bird even barked at it.Then, if you happen to be curious how they made this plant dog, they thoughtfully provided directions. You know, just in case you had a pen and paper laying around and could take notes so... Read more

Today I'm packing up the blog and moving to the Wordpress blog neighborhood. Due to some issues with Blogger, I think Wordpress is going to offer me more of what I need to really make this blog as great as it can be. I hope this doesn't cause a terrible inconvenience for all my faithful readers & subscribers, but the new website is almost exactly the same: http://760days.wordpress.com. Of course, it may take a day or two to pack up all the posts and comments, move them to the new place and... Read more

Drive at Your Own Risk

From 760 Days in Morocco, 1 year ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

If you're willing to brave the roads to drive in Morocco, good luck. After the first time I had to drive here I told my husband I'm never driving in this country again. But, I gave it a second try on the trip to El Jadida I posted about yesterday. We decided it would be best to rent a car for the trip for several reasons:1. The train to El Jadida is almost an hour and a half longer by train due to a stop-over.2. The train station in El Jadida is quite far from the medina and our family's... Read more
