New Zealand Purses

From 44 South, 1 year ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

Recently, my friend Holly (above with her Mom) introduced me to a line of wallets/purses called Hunter and Pike that I had to share! I'm always on the lookout for unique and beautiful New Zealand handmade goods and these definitely are some of my favorite. They are customizable so that you can choose the size, color and add or subtract the strap. They can be worn as a purse, wallet or even a clutch. And, they are so on trend... I'm thinking of going hands free a la Rachel Bilson etc. For more,... Read more

Feeling Patriotic

From 44 South, 1 year ago, Read 1 times. Similar articles

Living so far away has allowed me a different lens through which to view my home country; I have learned a lot about the way Americans are perceived both good and bad. To view the election from half way around the world, surrounded by non-Americans, was a particularly special vantage point and was an experience I will certainly never forget. Not only was it a historical day in American history, it was a day that I'll never forget personally for the indelible effect it had on my patriotism.... photo from hereIf I didn't know any better, I would have this guy pegged for a Kiwi based on the photo. Donavon Frankenreiter, American pro- surfer turned musician has a sound infused with the laid back beachy life style he is passionate about.Best known in the surfing world (he came onto the stage in his early teens), Donavon utilized that community as a platform to promote his music. He has extensively toured Australia and New Zealand which could explain the uncanny similarity he has to the... Read more

On one fine recent Saturday morning, we ran into about 100 of these folks on the train. Our curiosity overcame our need to act like Germans and say nothing on the train to them so we asked them what they were doing. They were members of a Jugger team competing in a tournament in Berlin.for this ultimate trophy...I didn't know they made trophies with dog skulls on themWhat is Jugger one might ask'Well, you use these weapons:to try to score with the dog skull "ball."that gray spot in the center is... My favorite thing a German has said to me so far:"Oh, you're American! I love Americans. They wear jogging pants & flip flops everywhere but they smell so nice and have such nice white teeth - very hygienic."She then asked me to name my favorite smelly lotion stores. I will give her the dental card but lotion stores' People give me lotion for Christmas who don't know me very well. I probably still have some "Raspberry Reluctance" or "Thin Mint Passion" somwhere. I don't have anything... Read more

Alma

From 66 Square Feet, 10 month ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

It wasn't until Saturday evening that we ate at Alma on Columbia Street - I've been meaning to for a long time: just drinks and some appetizers, as we were having a real dinner at home, which was just as well. The view is a killer, semi-industrial one of Manhattan and Jersey across the harbour - but the guacamole at this Mexican restaurant was bland, made with under ripe avocadoes, under- seasoned, no hint of lime or lemon, or even salt and...well. A waste. What more to say.The ceviche was a... Read more

Trump SoHo

The unpopular Trump building on Spring Street, west of SoHo, taken from a cab from Tribeca yesterday. Old bones from a 19th century burial vault, a construction worker killed, sub par constuction methods and a shady Russian investor make it just another New York skyscraper. Read more

For 600 DH for a little over a day, the car was a new Peugot compact number, and had a nice smooth ride, clean interior and working air conditioner. Our ride to El Jadida was great until the gas tank started beeping low about 15 miles from the city, but we made it to a gas station before it ran out. That's why 200 DH should go in the tank to start! Ah, there was a roadside assistance card in the paperwork anyway. My husband did a great job driving us to El Jadida, but I got a chance to take the... Read more

Review: Hotel Ibis Moussafir - Fes

From 760 Days in Morocco, 1 year ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

I was actually glad we decided to add another location to our itinerary because I've wanted to check out the ibis Hotel Moussafir chain. Outside each hotel, they post the nightly rate for rooms which is different depending on the city and the time of year, but reasonable even at the highest price which was 680 DH in Casablanca all winter. They are mostly located near train stations, which make them terribly convenient and level out somewhere in the Ramada Inn category of hotels. Not cheap and... Read more
