Quick update on Ollie

From Hus Langford, 4 month ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

A few people have asked today how he's doing, and the answer is he's just fine. He slept off the anesthetic yesterday (pictured) and today he's quite bright. We had a strong 40 minute walk in the spring sunshine. We'll know more later in the week after his test results. I'm feeling pretty upbeat; at least Ollie's back is no worse, which was worrying me a lot. Read more

????????,???????The 2010 Tagata Jinja Fertility Festival takes places on March 15 and is one of Japan's most celebrated "Phallic Festivals". VRC Bulgaria: Veliko Tarnovo & Arbanasi

From View from Kew, 4 month ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

Veliko Tarnovo is dominated by the citadel but some of the town buildings sport a kind of siding I had never seen.I was much more fascinated by nearby Arbanasi.  The Ottoman influence was clear in the home of the Turkish merchant Konstantsaliyata. The simple exterior of Nativity Church of Christ provided no clue as to the frescoes and other treasures inside.  And the enthusiasm and knowledge of our guide was unsurpassed. The Dutch Taste Police

From A Letter from the Netherlands, 4 month ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

We went to a local Greek restaurant (Delphi) last weekend and I noticed a Smaakpolitie sticker on the door. It is the only restaurant in Zoetermeer to have been awarded this sign of a good, clean kitchen. In fact, to be fair there are not too many restaurants that have been awarded this keurmerk in Zuid-Holland at all. The Smaakpolitie is a Dutch television programme hosted by Rotterdammer Rob Geus, which inspects restaurant, cafe and snack bar kitchens (and student houses for entertainment... Read more

In the past almost 18 months that we have lived here in Melbourne, there haven’t been many thunderstorms, I think I can count the times I heard thunder on one hand. Melbourne is also a place that suffers from a major drought and we are currently in Stage 3A water restrictions. So when we get a storm like yesterday, it is major news. How to Make Yakisoba

From Tokyoblog, 4 month ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

A couple weeks ago my friends Mizuho and Siu came over and made yakisoba in my kitchen. They laughed, though not in a mean way, and certainly not for the first time, at me and my silly notions about Japanese cuisine -- in this particular case, my belief that yakisoba was, literally, fried soba noodles. The buckwheat ones. Fair assumption, right' I happen to have a recipe for "fried soba" and that's what it calls for. I've made it, and it's good! And probably a lot more nutritious than the real... Lots of UK election sound-bites afoot about much-needed changes, particularly in education and health. Good! Generations of UK schoolchildren have been short-changed. The brain must be trained to think independently before introducing PCs, calculators and more advanced education. Bevan's original postwar NHS ideal has collapsed due to too-many people chasing ever-increasing health treatments and cost-driven drugs. Result: blow-out.French schoolchildren have always followed a traditional regime,... Read more
