Shrinked window

From Palazzo Pizzo, 6 month ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

Usually, when renovating or remodeling and it comes to windows you would tend to enlarge a window, if possible. In our case, the window of the smalest toilet (the one that hangs on the outside), was large enough - before the renovation. But look what happened with the new window (before, during and after) : It shrinked ! Somehow it is less than half of the before size. However it has a very bold frame. * copyright Palazzo Pizzo * Read more

I HATE Belgium

From Travels without my spaniel, 6 month ago, Read 2 times. Similar articles

I HATE Belgium. Officially. I HATE the constant summons to the Commune, to be snubbed by some fat, pea-brained Belgian local government pen-pusher with a large salary and no sense of initiative*. I HATE being asked to provide a different document each time and then when I arrive being told that it's the wrong one and I am late and I should have brought Annex X blah blah blah.I HATE that I have to pay over two thousand euros in social security per year - effectively paying the salaries and child... Back in town

From Random Walks in Low Countries, 6 month ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

?and back on line.  Still hard to believe that a tech-y town like Cambridge isn't better connected, but it remains a place with few public access points. In any case, it was a busy few days: first London, then Cambridge, for a mix of pitching, meeting, and apartment hunting.  Generally successful, both funding and project resources seem to be coming together.  The weather was beautiful, blue skies and radiant sunshine, but  temperatures hovered close to zero C... Vintage French Linens

From Sycamore Stirrings, 6 month ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

Dear readers, I've been to heaven. I am back to tell you all about it. Last Wednesday I took another school day field trip. This time I went with some stitching friends. Our destination was a thrift shop just out of Metz, France in a commune called Peltre. The allure was a room called, the lace room - open only on Wednesdays and Saturdays until 12:00.The lace room proved to be all we'd hoped, plus so much more. It was bursting with piles of vintage linens all hand embroidered. There were... Read more

Ten Tips on How to Choose Your First DSLR Camera

From The Purple Journal , 6 month ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

The very first time that I held an SLR camera was when I was 16.  It was my father’s Pentax, a very handsome film SLR camera.  It was an expensive hobby, specially for a college student, so I decided to let go of photography.  Years later, however, I finally received my very first digital camera:  [...] Read more

After Work

From Dolphin Hotel, 6 month ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

Monday to Friday my last class finishes just before nine. My house is a few minutes' walk from school, I live in the same direction as two other teachers, and there's a bar on the way where a pint of beer costs eighty pence. Usually I get home around midnight - and the waitress no longer asks what we're having to drink. Read more

Writing as Torture

From Ulaca, 6 month ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

C.S. Lewis used to talk about being "pregnant with book", alluding as much to the difficulty of writing well as to the overwhelming need he often felt to put his thoughts on paper. Byron was another phenomenally successful writer, noted, as Lewis was, for the speed and apparent ease of his composition as well as for a prodigious output. But appearances can be deceptive. Writing to fellow poet and friend Thomas Moore in 1821, Byron refers to the pain of putting pen to paper:"As to that... Read more
