Sunburst

Alright, you can relax. Except those of you who are new visitors. You will have to read last week's post to get the full flavour of my suffering. Anyway, you will be glad to hear that I have come through the miseries and am now feeling much more able to cope with the slings and arrows. And dancing on the dirty knickers in the bath, and the mould and the broken indicator and the exiting tenant. They are all still there, except the mould (I sent Significant Other up a ladder with a bucket of... Read more

Paying the electricity bill

From WaSapninEgypt?, 5 month ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

I work full time and my wife keeps herself busy with her art projects, hence no one is at home most of the time. Every now and then we come home to find notes from our local electricity suppliers that we must pay very soon otherwise they would be forced to cut off the electricity (We do not understand arabic so we get all the notes translated). I do not understand why the electricity guy just does not come at an arranged time or come at a time that when most people are likely to be home, which... Read more

Vanilla

From Deep Kyoto, 5 month ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

Vanilla is a stylish location for lunch, dinner or just a simple coffee. They do a very good coffee. The interior is decorated with cool, mellow Scandinavian furnishings. Presumably there is some connection with the “Nordic Countries” store downstairs. Anyway it makes for a very relaxing space. The food is Japanese + Chinese + Western fusion. We had spaghetti with scallops, sea urchin and spinach. The cream sauce was delicious. These smoked salmon and cream cheese spring rolls... Read more

East Africa

From Gateway to Lindia, 5 month ago, Read 1 times. Similar articles

As a freelance journalist, I find it thrilling that I I can stick my thumb to the wind and use my instincts and curiosity to decide where on the earth to go next. Each country is a commission away. I had always longed to go to East Africa so that is exactly what I did this past June. I started out in Kenya where I enjoyed an unforgettable Safari in Masai Mara. Here is a 30 second edit of some recreational filming I did. It was amazing to see animals up-close and in their... Read more

January round-up

From Le Franco Phoney, 5 month ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

Well well well, January is over. Where did it go' To match the speed of the month, I’m speed writing this entry as I have lots of observations to tell you about. So, first up, the Christmas tree. Not only did I kill it as I mentioned a few days ago, but then the snow dumped overnight (see photo) just to add insult to injury. It’s as if the mountains are laughing at it, rejecting it from the outside after I rejected it from indoors. I still feel a bit guilty. Next up: today’s... Read more

Sandwich and Canterbury

From Les Sharma, 5 month ago, Read 0 times. Similar articles

Had a great family day with the boys and Tamzin today which is really nice at the moment as the business is busy and taking up loads of our time over the weekends. First of all we went to the Sandwich Bootfair (yes there is a place called Sandwich in Kent) and bought some children books and old cars for the boys to play with. Then headed over to Canterbury (Kent) to Tamzin's mum to drop off her birthday card and presents (birthday tomorrow, Monday). Spent the afternoon in her back garden... Read more
