I just come back from a quick 1 night stay in Savannakhet, Laos to renew my Thai visa. As I’m currently located in Mukdahan where the Friendship bridge is located, it was just a 2 hour commute for me (Sweeeet!). Here is my mini “Visa run to Savannakhet” guide for those that are coming from Bangkok:

My missus has just come back from spending 5 days at a Buddhist temple in the middle of a forest located in Nikom Kham Soi, Mukdahan.
While there she learned about Buddhism and best practices for life in general, taught by female monks, some of whom have been at the temple for over 20 years.
While there, she could not talk to anyone, and had to follow a pretty strict daily routine which consisted off:

We opted to have the Balinese roasted pork from the Ibu Oka restaurant for breakfast, as I’ve heard so many good reports about this place. Although it was good, it didn’t even come close to a traditional hog roast with stuffing and Apple sauce :)
The pig is roasted with a blend of Balinese spices in the cavity.

I’ve been in Bali for a few days now chilling out in nice digs while munching on some of the best foods I’ve eaten in a long time.
